McPherson JV Tennis Dominates Tournament with Perfect Sweep
Young Bullpups capture team title as all four divisions claim individual championships
The McPherson JV tennis team delivered a dominant performance to capture the team championship with 20 points, finishing well ahead of Derby Green and Derby Black, who tied for second place with 9 points each, while Wichita North finished fourth with 6 points. The Bullpups achieved a perfect sweep of individual titles, with all four divisions going undefeated on the day despite challenging warm weather conditions.
Anne-Marie Holmes showcased her strategic prowess in #1 singles, going 3-0 while executing precise ball placement to draw errors from opponents and maintaining her characteristic positive attitude throughout the matches. Kyla Lauw overcame breathing difficulties caused by the heat to claim the #2 singles championship with a perfect 3-0 record, consistently seeking feedback and ways to improve her game between sets. In doubles action, the #1 team of Emily Reno and Hayden Eveland continued their impressive partnership with flawless communication and mutual encouragement en route to their 3-0 performance. The #2 doubles duo of Azul Palacios and Nirmitha PreMananth relied on strong baseline games to outlast their opponents and secure their own undefeated day, though both players continue working on their net movement. The same group of players will face another quick turnaround as they travel to compete in Salina on Tuesday.
