McPherson JV Tennis Claims Team Title in Second Tournament in Two Days

McPherson's JV tennis team captured the team championship with 20 points, narrowly defeating Junction City (18 points) in their second tournament in as many days. The Bullpups showed remarkable resilience and depth, with Manhattan and Salina Central Maroon tying for third place at 16 points each, followed by Salina Central White (12 points) and Salina South (6 points). The victory demonstrated the team's ability to maintain high-level performance despite the demanding back-to-back tournament schedule.

Individual standouts led McPherson's championship effort, with Nirmitha PremAnanth posting a perfect 3-0 record to claim first place in singles, showcasing her baseline control and shot placement throughout the competition. The doubles team of Anne-Marie Holmes and Kyla Lauw also went undefeated at 3-0 to earn first place, displaying solid net play and fundamental volleying skills. Despite facing some adversity, including Azul Palacios competing through a leg injury that limited her movement, the team showed mental toughness with multiple players bouncing back from early setbacks to secure medal positions. The busy schedule continues Thursday with another JV tournament at Campus.
