McPherson JV Soccer Splits Matches at Valley Center Tournament
Bullpups Rally in Penalty Kicks After Scoreless Draw, Fall to Garden City in Opener

McPherson's JV soccer team experienced contrasting fortunes at the Valley Center four-team tournament today, dropping their opening match to Garden City 2-0 before bouncing back with a dramatic penalty kick victory over host Valley Center. The Bullpups struggled to find their offensive rhythm against Garden City in the tournament opener, unable to break through against a stingy defensive effort that resulted in a clean sheet for their opponents.
The second match proved far more competitive as McPherson battled Valley Center to a scoreless draw through regulation and overtime, setting up a thrilling penalty kick shootout to determine the winner. The Bullpups rose to the occasion in the high-pressure situation, converting all four of their attempts to claim a 4-3 victory in the shootout. Ethan Young, Elliott Schoming, Baylor Boesker, and Jorge Francisco-Pedro each stepped up to successfully convert their penalty kicks, demonstrating composure and skill when the match was on the line. The split performance showcased both the challenges and potential of the young McPherson squad as they continue their development throughout the season.
