McPherson homebuyer assistance funds depleted for 2026
High demand claims all $50,000 in available grants by mid-February
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The City of McPherson has exhausted the entire 2026 budget for its Homebuyer Cash Assistance Program just weeks into the year, officials announced Wednesday. The program, which allocated a total of $50,000 to assist new homeowners, distributed $5,000 grants to 10 qualified applicants before running out of funds. Citing a surge in interest, city officials confirmed that the financial aid designed to encourage home ownership within city limits has been fully expended for the current annual cycle.
