The McPherson girls tennis team opened their 2025 season with a team championship, scoring 26 points to edge runner-up Buhler by a single point at a competitive eight-team tournament. The Bullpups topped a field that included Hesston (21), Wichita Collegiate (15), Maize South (10), Smoky Valley (7), Trinity Academy (7), and Abilene (4). Freshman Mayson Wiens dominated the No. 2 Singles bracket, going 3-0 to claim the individual title, while the No. 2 Doubles team of Quinn Liebl and Avery Unruh also went undefeated to earn their championship. Senior Maryn Sandbo battled through a tough No. 1 Singles field featuring last year's Class 4A state runner-up to finish third with a 2-1 record, and the No. 1 Doubles duo of Dragon Rodriguez and McKenna Paul also claimed third place.

The tournament featured some of the top Class 4A competition, providing an early-season test for the Bullpups. With standout performances across all divisions, McPherson's balanced attack proved decisive in securing the overall team title, setting a promising tone for what could be a successful 2025 campaign.
