McPherson Girls Open Season 1-2
MCPHERSON — The McPherson High School girls basketball team faced a demanding three-games-in-three-days stretch to open their season, starting with a Thursday victory over Campus before dropping consecutive games to Salina South and Liberal.
The Pups opened the season with a win over Campus on Thursday night, but the grueling schedule proved challenging as they fell in their next two contests.
December 5 vs. Salina South
The Pups struggled offensively against Salina South, managing just 23 points in the 42-23 loss. The Cougars' defense held McPherson in check throughout the contest, building a comfortable lead and maintaining control.
December 6 vs. Liberal
McPherson showed significant improvement in Friday's matchup with Liberal, battling the Redskins in a competitive game that came down to the final possessions. Despite the improved offensive output, the Pups came up just short, falling 53-48.
McPherson stands at 1-2 on the young season and will look to build on the positives from their opening week as they prepare for their next contest.
