McPherson Daycare Provider Accused of Child Abuse
Horn's license suspended after child found with bite marks and bruises at elementary school

A McPherson daycare provider has been charged with felony child abuse after a child was found with bite marks and bruises at Roosevelt Elementary School, leading to the immediate suspension of her childcare license.
Kimberly Horn, 50, faces charges of felony child abuse of a child under the age of six following an investigation by McPherson Police Department. Her home daycare, Kimberly Kay Horn Day Care Home, was stripped of its license following the complaint.
Officers were called to Roosevelt Elementary School in McPherson on the morning of September 11, 2025, for a child abuse report. School officials, including a social worker, family advocate, and nurse, observed marks and bruises on a young boy who told them he had an "altercation" with his babysitter.
The boy told the social worker and family advocate that Horn "pushed him down, slapped him across the face and bit his fingers." Court documents describe four rectangular purple and red-colored bruising on the left side of the child's cheek along with puncture marks on the fingers of one of his hands that appeared to be bite marks.
During police interviews following her arrest, Horn said what took place with the child was "just an accident." She denied slapping the child and explained to detectives that she grabbed the boy on both arms with her hands and applied pressure by pulling him upwards.
On Sept. 12, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issued an emergency order of suspension for Horn's license. Horn also faces additional charges including six counts of child endangerment and permitting a dangerous animal to be at large, with allegations that her dog also bit the child.
Horn's next court date is scheduled for December 12. The case remains under investigation by McPherson authorities.
