McPherson's cross country teams kicked off their season in impressive fashion at the Great Bend Invitational, with the boys squad placing seventh overall and the girls finishing 13th in highly competitive fields. Senior Caleb Muehler led the Bullpups' charge with a stellar second-place finish and medal performance, clocking 15:53 in the varsity boys race. The girls team showcased their youth and potential, led by freshman Adeline Kramer who finished 30th in 21:17, followed closely by fellow freshman Kamryn Prescott in 40th place with a time of 21:54.
The boys team demonstrated solid depth with senior Kayden Friesen contributing a 27th-place finish in 17:40, while Tripp Pelzel (34th, 17:51) and Jonas Emery (86th, 19:18) rounded out the varsity scoring. The girls received additional support from Reesa Whorton (46th, 22:06) and Eliza Jex (66th, 22:30). Taking advantage of ideal weather conditions, both teams posted strong opening times in what coaches described as very competitive races.
