McPherson Cross Country Competes at Challenging Wamego Invitational
Muehler captures individual title as boys finish fifth, girls place 11th in 4A test

The McPherson cross country teams faced a challenging test at the Wamego Invitational, with the boys squad earning a fifth-place finish highlighted by Caleb Muehler's individual championship and the girls team placing 11th in competitive 4A action.
Muehler dominated the boys race with a winning time of 16:06, leading a strong effort that saw three Bullpups earn medals. Kayden Friesen finished 22nd in 17:52, while Tripp Pelzel claimed 31st place with an 18:06 clocking. Nathan Friesen (62nd, 19:29), Jonas Emery (77th, 19:52), Isaiah Ortiz (102nd, 20:57), and Drake Timson (115th, 21:25) rounded out the varsity scoring.
The girls team was paced by Adeline Kramer and Kamryn Prescott, who narrowly missed medal positions with identical 22:17 times, finishing 41st and 42nd respectively. Reesa Whorton placed 49th in 22:35, followed by Eliza Jex in 65th (23:17) and Lindley Jex in 116th (28:23).
The JV boys also competed, led by Miles Bauer's 67th-place finish in 23:22. John Conard (89th, 24:45), Maxton Nelson (92nd, 24:52), Charlie Unruh (107th, 26:15), and Jonah Foster (119th, 27:43) completed the JV effort.
"Both teams competed well on a very challenging course this morning," said Coach Rempe. "As this was the first time running at Wamego for nearly half of the team, we gained a lot of experience that will help us during the postseason. This meet is also a good indicator of how we rank against other 4A competition."
The meet provided valuable experience as the Bullpups prepare for postseason competition, testing their abilities against quality 4A opponents on one of the region's most demanding courses.
