McPherson County to unveil newly renovated government building
The facility will house key administrative offices and offer improved security and parking for residents
MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson County residents will soon have a more secure and centralized location to access essential government services when the newly renovated McPherson County Building officially opens its doors. Following nearly a year of construction and roughly a decade of planning, a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the facility at 200 N. Maple, according to Ad Astra Radio reporting.
The overhauled building will take over several critical departments previously housed in the county courthouse, including the County Clerk and Elections Office, the County Treasurer, and the Register of Deeds, offering the public a single, streamlined entrance with enhanced security measures.
The relocation also aims to alleviate downtown parking congestion by utilizing an adjoining parking garage exclusively for county employees, a move that will free up high-demand spaces around the courthouse for visitors.
McPherson County Commission Chairman Keith Becker praised the transition as a vital, long-term investment for the community. He said the renovated space delivers much-needed room for growth and improved daily functionality, allowing local officials to better serve taxpayers today while actively preparing for the county's future administrative needs.
