McPherson County to host meeting on emerging energy technologies

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson County will host a public meeting Thursday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. at the Cedars Wellness & Conference Center to discuss emerging technology opportunities including battery energy storage, data centers, cryptocurrency mining, hydrogen energy transfer and nuclear power, as county officials work to develop regulations before moratoriums on battery and hydrogen systems expire Sept. 1 and a data-center moratorium ends Dec. 1 amid the promise of economic growth and concerns about power rates, water usage, and fire hazards.
