McPherson County Farm Bureau Partners to Feed the Hungry
Organization distributes elk snack sticks through statewide hunger relief program

McPherson, KS- McPherson County Farm Bureau Association has joined forces with Kansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry to distribute elk snack sticks as part of a comprehensive effort to combat food insecurity across the region.
The partnership utilized elk meat from the Maxwell game preserve herd, which was processed into snack sticks by Krehbiel Meat Processing. The initiative aligns with Kansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry's mission to "continue to make great strides in helping feed the hungry and to provide them the nourishment needed to stay strong and continue in good health."
The collaboration represents McPherson County Farm Bureau's participation in the County Farm Bureaus End Hunger Campaign, demonstrating the agricultural community's commitment to addressing local food needs.
A total of 35 cases of elk snack sticks were distributed to county Farm Bureau associations across the 7th District. McPherson County's allocation was donated to multiple local organizations focused on hunger relief, including the McPherson Food Bank and STEP MC.
Additional distribution points included various Blessing Boxes throughout the community and food cupboards operated by First United Methodist Church and McPherson First Mennonite Church.
The spring distribution effort highlights the ongoing collaboration between agricultural organizations, processing facilities, and local food banks to provide high-quality protein sources to families in need throughout McPherson County.
The program showcases how partnerships between hunters, farmers, and community organizations can effectively address food insecurity while utilizing local resources and processing capabilities.
