McPherson County Farm Bureau Continues Rural Appreciation Supper Tradition at 4-H County Fair

MCPHERSON, KS — The McPherson County Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Financial Services will host the annual Rural Appreciation Supper on Friday, July 25th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the McPherson County Fairgrounds, marking the second year the organizations have sponsored this longstanding community tradition. The free event, which began in 1972 under the McPherson Chamber of Commerce Ag-related Committee, found new life when Farm Bureau stepped in after the Chamber Executive Board decided to discontinue its support.

"We felt it was important to recognize the contributions of our farm community to the county's economy and our way of life by continuing the appreciation supper," said Farm Bureau County Coordinator Mitz Fawl. The decision to preserve the 53-year tradition came after concerned members of the original Ag-related Committee approached the Farm Bureau Board about sponsorship options. The supper, held during the McPherson County 4-H Fair, serves as a vital opportunity for the community to honor local farmers and agricultural workers who form the backbone of the county's economy. All community members are welcome to attend the free event.
