McPherson County Extension Launches Text Alerts for Cooking Classes

MCPHERSON, Kan. — K-State Research & Extension McPherson County has officially launched text-message notifications for its Teach & Taste and TACOL cooking programs, with more programs to follow. Participants who sign up will receive a reminder on the day of each event along with any schedule, location or cancellation updates. Residents should register using the email address tied to their original program signup so the system can link the alerts to their account. McPherson Lumber Company is sponsoring the new feature.

Taste Buddies 3.0 Returns for Third Year

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The Taste Buddies cooking program returns June 22–26 for its third year of cooking, creating and sharing recipes, with fresh dishes and new flavors on the menu. Sessions run daily from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the McPherson County Extension Office, 600 Woodside St. The program is free and open to returning and first-time participants.

Library Hosts Dinosaur-Themed Family Storytimes

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Public Library is offering Family Storytimes featuring songs, movement and dinosaur tales designed to build early literacy through play and repetition. Red Barn Studio Welcomes Artist-in-Residence Catherine Coughlin

LINDSBORG, Kan. — The Red Barn Studio Museum is hosting New England native Catherine Coughlin as artist-in-residence from June 22 to July 1. Her work explores experiences of relocation, including her own and those of early Kansas settlers and Native Americans. The museum, at 212 S. Main St., is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated.
