McPherson College Showcases Student Talent in Annual Art POP Exhibition
Statewide High School Artists Compete for Prizes and Scholarships in Friendship Hall Display
McPherson College's annual Art POP exhibition has transformed Friendship Hall into a vibrant showcase of young artistic talent, featuring 92 pieces from students representing 15 Kansas high schools. This year's competition, juried by Ann Zerger, professor emeritus and former art professor at McPherson College, includes works from students across the state, from Atwood-Rawlins County in the northwest to Uniontown in the southeast, with participating schools including Concordia, Free State-Lawrence, Herington, Hesston, Hutchinson, Inman, Junction City, McPherson, Moundridge, Pike Valley, Salina Central, and Smoky Valley.
The exhibition, which offers both prizes and scholarship opportunities for talented young artists, remains open to the public during regular business hours through November 13. The competition will culminate in a closing reception and awards ceremony on Thursday, November 13, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Friendship Hall, with award announcements scheduled for 6 p.m. The event provides an important platform for emerging artists to gain recognition and potentially secure financial support for their continued education in the arts.
