More than 60 performers will open McPherson College’s 2026-27 theatre season Friday, Oct. 2, in what the college calls the department’s largest and most diverse cast. The production is Laurie Woolery and Shaina Taub’s musical folk-pop adaptation of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, with Taub also writing the music and lyrics. According to the college’s announcement, the 22-song show features college students, alumni, faculty, staff, local theater participants, students from area schools, and other community members. Professor of Theatre J.D. Bowman described the project as “both energizing and overwhelming” and said the show reflects the season’s community theme by inviting new participants and audiences into the production.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, in Brown Auditorium, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available through the McPherson College theatre season page or at the box office before each performance. The next performance is Dr. Cook's Garden by Ira Levin on November 13th and 14th, 2026.
