McPherson College ranked among the top 20 Best Value Schools in U.S. News & World Report's 2027 Best Colleges rankings, according to a Sept. 23 announcement from the college.

The college was also recognized among the Best Regional Colleges and Top Private Colleges in the Midwest and as a Top Performer on Social Mobility. The appearance marked McPherson College's 11th consecutive year in the rankings.

The publication evaluated more than 1,700 colleges using up to 17 measures of academic quality and graduate success. Best Value rankings consider academic quality and cost, while the social-mobility category considers how well colleges enroll and graduate students who receive federal Pell Grants.

In the 2025-26 rankings, McPherson was ranked among the top 20 Regional Colleges in the Midwest and appeared on the Best Value Schools and Top Performers on Social Mobility lists.

President Michael Schneider linked last year's recognition to the college's Student Debt Project, which combines financial literacy, mentoring, matching funds, and student employment to help participants reduce college debt. The college also reported that nearly three-fourths of its graduates secured employment or graduate-school placement before graduation.
