CHS Refinery Earns Third Consecutive ENERGY STAR Certification

The CHS refinery in McPherson has earned ENERGY STAR certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the third consecutive year, recognizing the facility's exceptional energy efficiency and environmental performance. The refinery qualified by scoring in the top 25 percent of comparably sized refiners using the Energy Intensity Index, with survey data verified by a professional engineer and submitted to the EPA following a Solomon study analysis.


Leadership McPherson Down to Final Three Spots

The McPherson Chamber of Commerce's Leadership McPherson program, a community-based professional development initiative operating since 1982, has only three spots remaining for its next class. The program equips participants to view leadership as an activity rather than a position while helping them recognize their strengths, understand team dynamics, explore local challenges, and contribute to a service project benefiting McPherson County youth.


Library to Screen 'The Lego Movie' on Early Release Day

The McPherson Public Library will host a free screening of "The Lego Movie" at 3 p.m. on Jan. 7 in the Youth Programming Room at 214 W. Marlin. Registration is available at macpl.libcal.com, and popcorn will be provided.


United Way Bingo Fundraiser Set for Jan. 9

Three Rings Brewery at 534 Old US-81 Bypass will host a bingo night at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 9 to support United Way of McPherson County's fundraising campaign, which ends Jan. 21, 2026.


Christmas Tree Drop-Off Available Through Jan. 15

McPherson residents can drop off natural Christmas trees free of decorations at the McPherson Water Park parking lot at 511 N. Lakeside Dr. through Jan. 15. The Park Department will mulch the trees, and the resulting mulch will be available free to the public.

Lowe's Delivers Toys to McPherson Center for Health

Employees from Lowe's in Hutchinson delivered donations from their employee toy drive to McPherson Center for Health for the 17th consecutive year. The toys will be distributed to children receiving care in areas including the Emergency Room, Lab, Radiology, Inpatient units, and Obstetrics throughout the hospital at 1000 Hospital Drive.
