Fireworks Allowed Only July 2-4 Under City Rules

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The City of McPherson reminds residents that fireworks may be sold and discharged only July 2-4. They may be used from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. July 2 and 3, and from 10 a.m. to midnight July 4. Bottle rockets, sky lanterns and metal wire sparklers are prohibited at all times.

Free Mammogram Screenings Available July 22-25

MCPHERSON, Kan. — Women & Children Combatting Cancer in McPherson County is offering free mammogram screenings July 22-25, with 100 appointments available to McPherson County residents. Appointments can be scheduled by calling Courtney at the McPherson Center for Health at 620-241-2251, ext. 1456. Sponsors include the McPherson Center for Health, Midway Motors McPherson and Peoples Bank and Trust.

Bluestem Communities Seeks Input on Future Housing

MCPHERSON, Kan. — Bluestem Communities, 1021 Cedars Drive, is inviting the public to complete an anonymous survey on future independent living preferences through July 8. The not-for-profit says the feedback will help guide its future housing plans.

Sports Physicals Night to Benefit Booster Club, Youth Football

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Hospital Rural Health Clinic will host a walk-in Sports Physicals Night from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the McPherson Center for Health, 1000 Hospital Drive, Building 3. Physicals are $35, with all proceeds donated to the McPherson High School Booster Club and McPherson Youth Football Program. Call 620-241-7400 with questions.

YMCA Bowl-A-Thon to Fund McPherson Strong Scholarships

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson YMCA will hold a Bowl-A-Thon on July 18 in Hutchinson to benefit the McPherson Strong Community Campaign, which provides membership and program scholarships. Twelve teams will bowl in two sessions between noon and 4:30 p.m.; teams must be confirmed by July 3, with payment due July 15.

Rural Service Foundation Offers Grants to Local Groups

MCPHERSON, Kan. — MTC, 209 N. Main, announced that grants of $250 to $5,000 are available through the Foundation for Rural Service, in cooperation with NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association. The grants support business and economic development, community development, education and telecommunications projects in rural communities served by MTC.

New Monthly Networking Group Forming for Small Businesses

MCPHERSON, Kan. — A new monthly networking group for McPherson small business owners is being organized by Sandy Hunter of ProsperIT Local Strategies and Kerri Horton of Concierge Bookkeepers. The free group will meet monthly in the late afternoon or early evening, with the first gathering planned for July. Interested owners can join a mailing list for details.

The Ark Antiques Marks Sixth Anniversary With Weeklong Sale

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The Ark Antiques, 301 S. Main, is celebrating its sixth anniversary with storewide sales running July 1-5. Treats will be offered Thursday and Saturday, and the shop will grill hot dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4.

Stitches to Host Free Friendship Quilters Meeting

MCPHERSON, Kan. — Stitches Quilt Shop, 102 S. Main, will hold a free Friendship Quilters Meeting July 2, with sessions at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Complimentary snacks and coffee will be provided.

Opera House to Screen 'A League of Their Own'

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main St., will show the 1992 film "A League of Their Own" on July 2 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children, available at the door.

Intrepid Brass Band, 'Rocky' Featured at Lakeside Bandshell

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The Intrepid Brass Band will perform at 8 p.m. July 3 at the Lakeside Bandshell, 511 N. Lakeside Drive, followed by a 9 p.m. screening of "Rocky" in the 2026 Movie Mania series. Sponsored by the McPherson Convention & Visitors Bureau, the free event includes snacks from McPherson Pizza Ranch and will move to the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin, in case of inclement weather.

City to Mark Fourth of July With Extravaganza at Wall Park

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson will celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary with a July 4th Extravaganza from 7 to 10:30 p.m. July 4 at Wall Park, 501 S. Park Street. The event features a photo booth, face painting, glow bracelets, cookies and food trucks, with live music from Steel Skarecrow from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and fireworks at dark, sponsored by CHS. MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin, will offer a free Tech Savvy Seniors class at 10:30 a.m. July 7, covering printing basics and use of the Libby app for ebooks and audiobooks. Registration is available online or by calling 620-245-2570.

Ballet Wichita to Stage Original 'Alice in Wonderland'

MCPHERSON, Kan. — Ballet Wichita will bring an original production of "Alice in Wonderland" to the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main, this summer. Choreographed by Company Director Katie Andrusak, the production blends classical ballet, neoclassical technique and tap, with costumes and projection backgrounds built in house.
