Docere Fitness opens at Sunbird Estates Professional Park

Docere Fitness, a new clinic gym located east of McPherson High School at 1319 E. 1st St. in the Integrated Health and Wellness Center at Sunbird Estates Professional Park, is now open. Led by Brandon Trost, DC, CCSP, the gym offers physician-programmed personal training, sports performance, nutrition coaching and small group classes capped at four people for 55-minute sessions. McPherson YMCA marks first year as Greater Wichita branch

The McPherson YMCA, 220 N. Walnut, is highlighting expanded community benefits after becoming the 13th full-facility branch of the Greater Wichita YMCA nearly a year ago. Senior Branch Director David Foster said McPherson members now have full access to the 12 other Greater Wichita Area branches, including free summer entry to four outdoor water parks and nationwide access for traveling members. Operating since 1906, the facility offers two indoor pools, a wellness center, a spin room, a gymnasium, a gymnastics gym and pickleball courts. Current programs include a new summer camp at Lincoln Elementary School with about 30 children enrolled, after-school childcare, Kid Zone, gymnastics, swim lessons, youth fitness and basketball leagues. For adults, the LiveStrong program offers a free 12-week membership and group support sessions for community members currently undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment. Registration open for Dino Dash at Wall Park

The Dino Dash will feature 1/2-mile, 1-mile and 2-mile distances, with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Wall Park, 501 S. Park St. Participants of all ages can discover dinosaur-themed activity booths along the course and enjoy Silent Disco headsets at the finish line. Silent Disco Pop-Up Series planned at The Plaza

The McPherson Public Library will host a 21-and-older Silent Disco Pop-Up Series from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at The Plaza, 201 N. Main. The community experience will feature music by DJ Noah Dossett and appearances by McPherson Main Street, Whiskey Wagon and YP MAC.

Teen Movie Monday features 'Indiana Jones'

The McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin, will host its Teen Movie Monday series at 3 p.m. June 8 with a screening of "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark." The summer lineup for students in sixth through 12th grades focuses on vintage options featuring dinosaurs and archaeology, and registration is required.

Family Silent Disco Night set at McPherson Public Library

Families with students in first through 12th grades are invited to a Silent Disco Night at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Youth Programming Room at the McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin. Registration is required.

McPherson Public Library hosts beaded plants workshop

Presenter Cara Hudson will lead "Crafts With Cara: Beaded Plants Workshop" at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin. Participants ages 12 and older are encouraged to register for the hands-on session to create handmade potted creations, with all supplies provided for beginners and seasoned crafters alike.

Free Teach & Taste Class offers Korean beef skillet recipe

The McPherson County Extension Office, 600 W. Woodside, will host a free Teach & Taste Class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, where attendees can learn to make a Korean Beef Skillet. Dinosaur O'Dell to perform at McPherson Community Building

The McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin, will host Dinosaur O'Dell at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, for an interactive, educational story event that makes complex concepts fun through stories about fixing spaceships, counting monsters and swimming in peanut butter.

McPherson Opera House to screen 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory'

The McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main St., will present the 1971 classic "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" at 2 and 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11. Tickets are available at the door for $6 for adults and $4 for children.

2026 Movie Mania presents 'Frozen' sing-along

A free "Frozen" sing-along will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main, as part of the 2026 Movie Mania series. Sponsored by Wetlands Irrigation & Turf, LLC, the McPherson Opera House and the McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau, the event will feature a fun activity and free snacks provided by McPherson Pizza Ranch.

Pulled pork drive-thru fundraiser

Bethany Village will host a pulled pork drive-thru fundraiser from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at 321 N. Chestnut St. in Lindsborg to raise money for a new projector for its resident activity center. For a $10 suggested donation, attendees can pick up a to-go meal featuring pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans and cookies.

City-wide garage sale

Women And Children Combating Cancer (WACCC) will organize the McPherson city-wide garage sale as a fundraiser beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, June 12, and 8 a.m. Saturday, June 13, with individual sale times varying. Residents who want to add their sale to the official map can register at Gentiva Hospice, 900 E. First St.

Rainforest Falls Vacation Bible School

Journey Mennonite Church, 201 E. Euclid, will host the Rainforest Falls Vacation Bible School for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. The Journey@McPherson event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, with supper served, and from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, with lunch provided.

Space to Grieve Kids Kamp

Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County-McPherson, 1318 N. Main, will host the 2026 Space to Grieve, Kids Kamp on Saturday, July 11, for youth ages 6 to 17 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Registration is open but space is limited; register by visiting the website or calling 620-665-2473.

Pizza Ranch fundraiser partnership

Pizza Ranch & Fun Zone, 206 N. Main, is inviting local organizations to partner for Monday night fundraisers where groups provide table bussers in exchange for 10% of sales plus all cash tips and donations gathered during the event. Mike Bruns promoted at The Ark Antiques & Flea Market

Ben Coffey has announced that Mike Bruns has been promoted to store manager of The Ark Antiques & Flea Market, 301 S. Main St., and chief operating officer of parent company CoffeyHouse Ventures LLC. Bruns will become the primary point of contact for vendors and employees as Coffey shifts focus in response to the store's growth, though Coffey will maintain a routine presence at the location.

Heartbeat Coffee offers summer lunch boxes

Central Kansas Conservancy receives $25,000 Trail Town grant

The Central Kansas Conservancy has received a $25,000 grant from the Sunflower Foundation to install wayfinding signs at the McPherson and Lindsborg trailheads of the Meadowlark Trail, directing users to local businesses and amenities. The grant coincides with McPherson officially becoming certified as a Kansas Trail Town.
