McPherson Chamber launches economic development survey
Cybersecurity training aims to protect small businesses
A program on cybersecurity essentials is available to help small business owners understand and implement fundamental security protocols. The session will address common risk points that leave small businesses susceptible to a cyberattack or data breach, teaching participants how to identify system weaknesses and proactively protect digital assets, as well as employee, vendor and customer data.
McPherson Chamber launches economic development survey
The McPherson Chamber is asking business and community stakeholders to complete an anonymous, five- to seven-minute survey by May 1 to help shape McPherson County’s economic development priorities for the next decade. The survey is part of a countywide effort uniting business, government and community leaders to build a shared economic vision, with results slated to guide the next phase of planning.
McPherson Public Library prepares for 125th anniversary, hosts Summer Kickoff Party May 15
The McPherson Public Library, located at 214 W. Marlin, is preparing to celebrate its 125th anniversary next year, marking its continuous operation since 1902. As a vibrant community hub, the library highlights its adult programming, led by Lindsay Helms, which includes the upcoming Summer Kickoff Party on May 15 featuring a DJ, interactive games, booths, food trucks, and summer reading releases throughout Memorial Park. The library also offers unique resources like a Silent Disco Pop-Up Series, Experience Passes to regional attractions, and a Library of Things where items check out like traditional books, alongside digital services like Kanopy and local history research in the McPherson Room. Patrons are encouraged to visit macpl.org to explore available resources, stay updated on activities, and view photos from the recent Chamber Connections event hosted by the library in honor of National Library Week.
McPherson CVB celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week
The McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau is sponsoring multiple events to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week from May 3-9 at 1111 E. Kansas Ave. Activities include free tram rides at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge with limited tickets available, bingo, popcorn in the park, and CVB-sponsored All Schools Day festivities.
MTC hosts lunch and learn for realtors
MTC will host a Realtor Lunch and Learn on May 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its office located at 209 N. Main. Attendees will learn how MTC fiber internet services can provide real estate listings with a competitive edge, and the event will feature lunch, giveaways and prizes. Jaydon Evans to perform at Music on the Plaza
The City of McPherson Public Lands and Facilities Department will host Music on the Plaza featuring a performance by Jaydon Evans at noon on May 6. The free musical event will take place at the McPherson Plaza, located at the intersection of Marlin and Main streets.
Annual May Fete program to showcase local student talent
The May Fete program will showcase the talents of school-age children from across McPherson County at 7 p.m. on May 6 and 7. The May 6 performances will be held at the Lakeside Park Bandshell at 511 N. Lakeside Drive, or the high school auditorium in the event of rain, while the May 7 performances will take place at the McPherson High School Auditorium at 801 E. First St. Each night will feature a completely different lineup of performers.
McPherson County prepares for All Schools Day festivities
McPherson County will host its annual All Schools Day festivities from May 6-9. The countywide celebration features a packed schedule of events, including a parade, concerts, fireworks, a carnival and a variety of other community activities.
Pine Village to host Benefit Day Car Show and barbecue
Pine Village will host its Benefit Day Car Show and BBQ Meal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 9 at 86 22nd Ave. in Moundridge. The family-friendly event will feature a variety of cars, food, inflatables and appearances by local caricature artist Brad Voth.
Pleasant View Home hosts bierock sale fundraiser
Pleasant View Home, located at 108 N. Walnut in Inman, is offering a bierock fundraiser featuring fully cooked and frozen German delicacies for $10 for six bierocks. Orders can be placed from April 20 through May 5, with pickup scheduled for May 13 and May 14 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the PVH front desk.
