McPherson Public Library celebrates National Library Week
McPherson Chamber seeks input for county economic development priorities
The McPherson Chamber is partnering with business, government and community leaders to shape a shared vision for McPherson County’s economic future and is asking stakeholders to complete a short survey by May 1. The anonymous, five-to-seven-minute survey seeks to gather input on the realities, opportunities and concerns facing employers to help guide the county’s economic development priorities for the next decade.
Nominations open for 2026 To The Stars: Kansas Business Awards
The Kansas Department of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2026 To The Stars: Kansas Business Awards, an annual program honoring businesses and individuals for their contributions to the state's economy and local communities. Lieutenant Gov. and Secretary of Commerce David Toland encouraged residents to nominate businesses that are moving Kansas forward by creating jobs, opening new markets and building communities.
McPherson Public Library to celebrate National Library Week
The McPherson Public Library, located at 214 W. Marlin St., will celebrate National Library Week from the 19th through the 25th of the month. This year's theme is "I'm So Happy You're Here! Find Your Library Joy!" Visitors are encouraged to check the McPherson Public Library website for specific programs and events happening throughout the week.
Stutzman's Greenhouse to host Party on the Patio spring celebration
Stutzman's Greenhouse, 6709 W. Highway 61 in Pleasant View, will host a Party on the Patio at 5 p.m. on the 23rd to celebrate spring. The event features pulled pork sliders and treats from the Dutch Kitchen, as well as a showcase of the latest Hustler mowers from Fairview Service. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Jason French will share 2023 plant discoveries and gardening tips while the American gospel and bluegrass band Color Green performs live in the greenhouse gazebo. The event will also include drawings and a Six Pack Flat Sale allowing attendees to mix and match for a total of 36 plants.
McPherson Arts Alliance to host annual student art exhibition reception
The McPherson Arts Alliance will host a reception honoring the annual McPherson County Student Art Exhibition from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the McPherson Museum, located at 1111 E. Kansas. The exhibition will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 23; from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 24; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 25; and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 26.
Volunteers sought for All School's Day After Dark Concert
Volunteers are currently needed to fill open shifts for the All School's Day After Dark Concert. Individuals who sign up to help wrap up the Star-Spangled Celebration will receive free entry to the beer garden as a thank-you for making the night a success. Organizers encourage community members to grab a friend, sign up for a shift and share the sign-up link with family and friends.
YMCA pool and sauna parts ordered for restoration
New YMCA Director David Foster announced that replacement parts have been ordered and are on the way to restore both the sauna and the pool to working order at the facility, located at 220 N. Walnut. Foster, who brings years of experience with the YMCA, expressed his appreciation for members' patience while awaiting the repairs and invites the community to stop by the facility to meet him.
