Bike Share Program Canceled Due to Funding Issues
Hutton Highlights Eco-Friendly Projects and Growth in Annual Report

The McPherson Chamber of Commerce announced it will not proceed with the proposed bike share program, citing the lack of a consistent, long-term subsidized funding source. While the initiative has been shelved, the Chamber expressed a continued commitment to community-focused projects, emphasizing that future endeavors must be both viable and sustainable for the McPherson area.
Wetlands Irrigation & Turf Launches Landscaping Division
Wetlands Irrigation & Turf LLC announced the expansion of its services with the launch of a new Landscaping Division, complementing its existing irrigation and lawn care offerings. The company, which has served the McPherson community for nearly 16 years, will discuss these upgrades and new capabilities during a Chamber Connection coffee event on February 26. The expansion aims to provide clients with a single source for comprehensive outdoor maintenance and enhancement.
National Weather Service to Present Storm Spotter Training
McPherson County Emergency Management will host the annual "Storm Fury on the Plains" presentation on February 26 at the McPherson Opera House. Conducted by the National Weather Service, the training is designed to teach community members how to identify severe weather hazards common to Central Kansas and how to safely report significant weather features. The event is open to the public and aims to increase community safety through better storm awareness.
Health Grant Expands Education in County Schools
The Kansas Learning Center for Health received a grant totaling $17,465 to fund the "On the Road to a Healthier Lifestyle" program across Lindsborg, McPherson, and Moundridge school districts. Funding was provided by the McPherson County Community Foundation’s General Grant allocation, the Moundridge Community Foundation, and the David J. Nutt Fund. The initiative aims to enhance health education programming for students throughout McPherson County.
StepMC Appoints Four New Board Members
Steps to End Poverty in McPherson County (StepMC) welcomed four new members to its board of directors, bolstering its leadership team. The new appointees include Michelle Huddle, CEO of the McPherson County Community Foundation; Denise O’Connor-Munsey, a retired financial advisor; Linda Mohr, Pastor at Inman United Church of Christ; and Mark Nelson, a StepMC alumnus and Viega employee. The organization stated these additions will bring valuable diverse perspectives to the fight against local poverty.
Convention Bureau Launches "America 250" Birthday Card Campaign
The McPherson Convention & Visitors Bureau has initiated a campaign to celebrate the United States' 250th birthday by collecting birthday cards from all 50 states before July 4, 2026. The Bureau plans to display the cards in their lobby on a map and will award a special commemorative McPherson gift to the first sender from each state. The initiative seeks to engage residents and their out-of-state connections in a nationwide celebration of the semiquincentennial.
