The McPherson High School girls golf team opened their 2025 season with a third-place finish at the 4A State preview tournament, posting a team score of 347 among 19 schools and 93 total players. The Bullpups trailed champion Wamego (329) and runner-up Wellington (334). Senior Brodie Kuhn led McPherson with a round of 79 for a tie for second place individually, while fellow senior Andi Buschbom shot 84 to finish ninth overall. Freshman Lleyton Kuhn made an impressive debut with an 87 for a tie for 13th, junior Amelia Moody recorded a personal-best 97 to tie for 34th, and senior Leah Cahoone tied for 57th while also setting a new personal record. Additional scoring came from Pera Bauer (tie for 45th) and junior Addie French (56th).

"Overall a solid start to the season," said head coach Treg Fawl. "It was great to be back out on the course watching our team compete. We will look to build on these results and improve everyday in practice." Fawl highlighted the achievement of three players setting personal tournament records, along with both senior leaders finishing in the top 10. "Anytime you can set new PRs and have a high team finish it is a successful day," he said. The Bullpups will continue their 2025 campaign September 9 at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
