McPherson Bullpups Earn No. 7 Seed in Class 4A State Basketball Tournament
McPherson will face undefeated Atchison in Wednesday quarterfinal at Kansas City Kansas Community College
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson High School boys basketball team has secured a spot in the Class 4A state tournament as the No. 7 seed with a 16-9 record. The Bullpups will open tournament play Wednesday at noon against No. 2-seeded Atchison (25-0) at Kansas City Kansas Community College. A win would send McPherson to the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hutchinson Sports Arena, where the finals and third-place game will be held Saturday.
The eight-team bracket features two undefeated squads in No. 1 Rock Creek (25-0) and No. 2 Atchison. Rock Creek faces No. 8 Eudora (13-11) Wednesday at Tony's Pizza Events Center, while No. 4 Hugoton (21-4) meets No. 5 Andale (18-5) at United Wireless Arena. On the Bullpups' side of the bracket, No. 3 Pratt (21-3) takes on No. 6 Baldwin (19-6) at Friends University. The championship game is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Hutchinson Sports Arena.
