McPherson Approves New Regulations for Mobile Food Vendors

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson City Commission has adopted a new ordinance establishing comprehensive regulations for mobile food vendors operating within city limits. Adopted on Dec. 30, Ordinance No. 3456 requires food truck operators to obtain an annual city license, pass fire department inspections and maintain liability insurance of at least $500,000. The new code, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2026, limits operating hours to between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. and prohibits vendors from setting up within 500 feet of other city-approved events or blocking public rights-of-way. Violations of the new measure carry fines ranging from $200 to $750.
