McPherson Among Top Contenders at Class 4A State Golf Tournament
Bullpups bring momentum from regional win as top-ranked teams converge on Carey Park for two-day State Championship

HUTCHINSON — The stage is set for what promises to be one of the most competitive Class 4A State Golf Tournaments in recent memory as the state's top teams converge on Carey Park Golf Course for the two-day championship beginning Monday, October 20.
McPherson enters the tournament ranked third in the state, riding the momentum of a regional championship at Buhler and looking to improve on last year's third-place finish. The Bullpups will face stiff competition from top-ranked Wamego, second-ranked Wellington, and fellow regional champions Augusta.
The tournament field also includes fourth-ranked Buhler, fifth-ranked Topeka Hayden, and sixth-ranked Augusta, setting up what should be a fierce battle over 36 holes.
The Bullpups bring a balanced lineup led by All-State seniors Brodie Kuhn and Andi Buschbom. Kuhn boasts the second-best scoring average in Class 4A this season, while Buschbom sits sixth in the state rankings. Their experience and consistency will be valuable assets as McPherson competes for a state title.
Freshman Lleyton Kuhn has emerged as a reliable scorer, currently ranked 20th in Class 4A and providing crucial consistency for the Bullpups' lineup.
Rounding out McPherson's top six are juniors Pera Bauer, Addie French, and Amelia Moody. Bauer has posted impressive scores throughout the season, while both Moody and French are riding high after recording personal records at the regional tournament.
Individual competition will feature its own compelling storyline as Wamego senior Addison Douglass attempts to make history. The three-time state champion is seeking to become one of the rare four-time individual champions in Kansas high school golf history.
First-round tee times begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 20, with the final round starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21.
With several teams capable of claiming the title and individual honors on the line, the Class 4A championship promises two days of dramatic competition at one of the region's premier golf facilities.
