Federal grant program supports airfield infrastructure improvements
McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Airport Authority will receive more than $202,000 in combined federal and state funding for airfield electrical improvements, Gov. Laura Kelly announced Thursday. The project includes $192,584 in federal funding from the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act, $9,629 from the Build Kansas Fund and a $507 local contribution.
The electrical upgrades are part of a broader $2.6 million investment in airport infrastructure across 10 Kansas communities. "Investing in Kansas' airport infrastructure is crucial to enhancing connectivity and supporting local economies across the state," Kelly said in a statement announcing the Federal Aviation Administration grants.
