McPherson 8th Grade Volleyball Sweeps Home Triangular
Both A and B Teams Remain Undefeated After Victories Over Hays, Great Bend

McPherson Middle School's 8th grade volleyball teams continued their perfect seasons today, sweeping a home triangular against Hays and Great Bend to improve both squads to 4-0 on the year. The A team showcased their resilience in a thrilling comeback victory over Hays, dropping the opening set 23-25 before rallying for a 25-19, 15-11 triumph behind consistent serving and improved net play. "We dropped the first set after some hitting errors of our own, but came back strong in sets 2 and 3," said Coach Christine Pianalto. "The girls were able to get their heads back in it by passing well and moving their feet to get the win." The momentum carried into their second match as the Bullpups dominated Great Bend 25-18, 25-9, with every hitter recording multiple kills in an aggressive, cohesive performance.
The B team also delivered a clean sweep, defeating Hays 25-22, 25-23 and Great Bend 25-22, 25-17 in matches that highlighted their teamwork and leadership. Coach Ally Lusk praised her squad's ability to overcome adversity, noting, "We started out strong in both games and struggled to pass for a few points. The girls talked and worked together to get wins to come back!" Both undefeated teams will return home Monday, September 8, for another triangular against El Dorado and Prairie Hills, with the A team playing at McPherson Middle School and the B team competing at the Community Building.
