McPherson 8th Grade Volleyball Remains Dominant in Wellington Triangular
A Team stays perfect at 14-0; B Team improves to 16-1
The McPherson Bullpups 8th grade volleyball teams continued their impressive seasons Tuesday night at Wellington, with both squads sweeping their triangular matches against Wellington and Arkansas City. The A Team overcame a sluggish start to defeat Wellington 25-19, 25-17 before dominating Arkansas City 25-12, 25-11, maintaining their perfect 14-0 record on the season.
"We came out to a slow start this evening vs Wellington, starting in a 0-8 hole due to serve receive errors," said A Team coach Christine Pianalto, noting that several players were in unfamiliar positions due to injuries. "Eventually, they started passing better, and were able to record some kills to swing the momentum back in our favor." Kinsley Postier's strong serving and team-leading kill total proved crucial in the comeback victory. The Bullpups found their rhythm in the second match, with Noelle Schmidt recording five aces to lead a dominant serving performance against Arkansas City.
The B Team showcased their depth with commanding victories, crushing Wellington 25-5, 25-7 before dispatching Arkansas City 25-16, 25-7 to improve their record to 16-1. "The girls came out strong against Wellington with the serves," said B Team coach Ally Lusk. "They had few mistakes and worked well together to get a win." Both teams will close out their regular season Monday, October 13, hosting Augusta in their final home dual of the year.
