McPherson 7th Grade Volleyball Teams Split Results in Road Matches

McPherson's 7th grade volleyball teams faced challenging road tests Tuesday against Hays Middle School and Great Bend Middle School, with mixed results that showcased both the highs and growing pains of early-season competition. The A team maintained their perfect record with hard-fought three-set victories over both opponents, defeating Hays 25-19, 18-25, 16-14 and Great Bend 25-27, 25-21, 15-12 to improve to 4-0 on the season. Despite struggling with serve receive, the undefeated squad compensated with strong net play and exceptional serving while demonstrating remarkable mental toughness in crucial moments.

The B team faced a more difficult evening, falling to both opponents in straight sets—losing to Hays 14-25, 16-25 and to Great Bend 18-25, 14-25 to drop their record to 1-3. However, Coach Amelia Broadfoot praised her team's resilience in facing unexpected challenges, highlighting Brooklyn Ide's leadership after a teammate's injury and clutch hitting from Macie Reinwald and Reese Kramer. "I'm incredibly proud of how the girls adapted and fought hard," Broadfoot said. Both teams will look to build on Tuesday's experience when they host their first home matches on Monday, September 8, before traveling to El Dorado the following day.
