McPherson 7th Grade Volleyball Teams Cap Perfect Week
A Team extends undefeated streak while B Team shows resilience in back-to-back victories

McPherson Middle School's 7th grade volleyball teams completed a dominant week with impressive performances in both triangular and dual match action, sweeping all opponents across two days of competition.
A Team Maintains Perfect Record
The 7th Grade A Team extended their undefeated streak from 6-0 to 7-0, beginning with convincing triangular victories September 8th over Prairie Hills Middle School (25-18, 25-19) and El Dorado Middle School (25-6, 25-8).
The squad followed up their triangular success with an even more dominant home opener against Emporia Middle School, winning 25-8, 25-9, 25-7.
"Their strong teamwork, consistent serves, and smart plays at the net helped them stay in control from start to finish," said Coach Abby Bradstreet. Hayden Vogelsberg and Elin Schmidt sparked the triangular victories with long serving streaks, combining for over 10 aces.
Against Emporia, the A Team showcased their defensive capabilities. "It was fun to watch the girls play a more offensive team and show their skills at defense," Bradstreet noted. "We hustled and communicated extremely well and overall had very few unforced errors."
B Team Finds Success Through Perseverance
The 7th Grade B Team improved from 3-3 to 4-3, beginning with triangular victories over Prairie Hills (25-19, 25-22) and El Dorado (25-20, 25-18) on September 8th.
In their home opener against Emporia, the B Team staged a dramatic comeback, losing the first set 21-25 before rallying to win 25-16, 25-22, 25-17.
"The B Team hit their stride," said Coach Amelia Broadfoot. Sophie Racines led both matches with consistent passing and crucial serving runs, while Kayleigh Dilli contributed multiple aces in the triangular. Against Emporia, Brooklynn Ide anchored the passing attack during the comeback victory.
Both teams return home Monday, September 15 for Community Service Night, featuring a food drive for the McPherson County Food Bank. Fans bringing non-perishable food items receive $1 off admission.
