McPherson 7th Grade Volleyball Teams Begin Season with Strong Showing

McPherson's 7th grade A team volleyball squad started the season with authority, sweeping both Haysville Middle School (25-9, 25-2) and Haysville West Middle School (25-9, 25-5) to improve to 2-0 on the year. Strong serving proved to be the difference-maker, with Hayden Allen, Hayden Vogelsberg, Elin Schmidt, and Rhett Banning all recording excellent serving streaks. At the net, Lucy Redden, Cayson Harlin, Leah Jackson, and Cali Melton each contributed multiple kills to power the offensive attack. Coach Abby Bradstreet praised her team's communication and sustained energy throughout both matches, noting how well the players showed early chemistry in their first competitive action together.

The 7th grade B team split their opening matches, falling to Haysville Middle School in a hard-fought three-set battle (25-27, 25-13, 13-15) before bouncing back to defeat Haysville West (25-22, 25-21) for a 1-1 record. Like their A team counterparts, the B squad excelled from the service line, with Auri Perryman, Macie Reinwald, and Sariah Perry each recording multiple aces. Sophie Racines and Emrie Wyssmann provided consistent passing throughout the evening. Both McPherson teams will look to continue their development when they travel to face Hays Middle School on Thursday, September 4.
