Marion man killed in head-on crash with semi on U.S. 50
Pickup truck crossed center line, collided with westbound semi in Harvey County
NEWTON, Kan. — A 49-year-old Marion man died Monday evening after his pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a semi on U.S. Highway 50 east of Walton. Gerado Mendoza was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram eastbound between North East Lake Road and North Grace Hill Road when the fatal crash occurred, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The driver of the 2024 Peterbilt semi, 59-year-old Charles Murphy of Rochester, Minnesota, was not injured in the wreck, which temporarily closed the highway for an investigation.
