MANHATTAN, Kan. — The Manhattan High Indians extended their winning streak to six games with a commanding 38-7 victory over the Derby Panthers in Friday night's Class 6A substate semifinal at Bishop Stadium. The dominant performance improved Manhattan's record to 10-2 and secured their spot in the state championship game, where they'll face the East champion Olathe Northwest Ravens.

The Indians controlled the game from start to finish, never allowing Derby to establish any momentum. Derby, which entered the contest with an 8-4 record and riding a three-game winning streak, was unable to match Manhattan's playoff intensity. The state title game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus, where Manhattan will need to contain a Ravens offense that has scored at least 31 points in each of their last four contests.
