The Manhattan City Commission is set to discuss a proposed right-of-way lane closure policy and winter weather preparations during its 6 p.m. work session Tuesday at City Hall.

The agenda features a review of bulk road salt agreements and storage as public works crews ready for winter, alongside a presentation on a draft lane closure permit policy. City staff previously introduced the lane policy in May to require a permit and fee for temporarily blocking city streets, sidewalks and parking stalls.

Because the meeting is a work session, commissioners will provide feedback and direction to staff but are not scheduled to take any binding action.

Manhattan Mayor Susan Adamchak and the rest of the commission will also review an engineer on-call program.

Under meeting guidelines adopted by the city in April, public comment will be allowed for all three presentation items. The session faces a strict 9 p.m. adjournment deadline unless extended by a majority vote in 30-minute increments.

Residents can attend the meeting in person at 1101 Poyntz Ave. or stream it live on local Cox Cable Channel 3 and the city’s website.
