More than 800 wrestlers pack the Roundhouse as over 80 local competitors take the mat

MAC Wrestling Club dominates at 36th annual McPherson Invitational

McPHERSON — The MAC Wrestling Club hosted its 36th annual McPherson Invitational on Sunday at the Roundhouse, drawing more than 800 wrestlers and thousands of spectators from across the state for one of the region's most anticipated youth wrestling events. More than 80 MAC Wrestling Club competitors took the mat, with 11 earning first-place finishes: Farron Kretzer, Caysen Stewart, Desmond Heizelman, Maverick Copeland, Reagan Reese, Stockton Foster, Braelyn Hicks, Laci Montano, Drace Stupka, Brayson Curl and Gavin Williams. Reese was named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler. Claiming second-place medals were Mason Barrow, Briggs Jackson, Dre Stupka, Serenity Alexander, Alec Williams, Airalia Hulvey, Kip Fly, Channing Blake, Triatan Hicks, Jhett Reazin, Aiden Barrow, Hayden Hicks, Reagan Ross, Kambrie Fly and Kaiden Brown. Third-place honors went to Weston Krier, Bree Martens, Dre Stupka, Karter Barnes, Mason Barrow, Demory Stupka, Collin Stewart, Ryder Ross, Jackson Reese, Colby Ward, Alex Montano, Mark Montgomery and Towns Delaney, while Kingston Hoppes, Jayden Reazin, Wacey Boswell, Kolten Sundell, Ean Brown, Brody Wealand, Caysen Huber and Eddie Koehn each finished fourth.

"We sincerely thank the MHS staff, MHS wrestling, MMS wrestling, and our entire community for their tremendous support in making the McPherson Invitational a success at the high school," said Mike Barrow, president of MAC Wrestling Club. Also representing the club at the tournament were Kairo Johnson, Braxtyn Sundell, Greysen Phillips, Crew Whitenack, Wyatt Fleming, Amelia Moos, Ruthie Rierson, Kennedy Puhalla, Wyatt Hazelton, Presley Schulz, Eli Wagner, Roby Ross, Jaxson Walker, Maveric Copeland, Jesse Anderson, Jax Gerstner, Thomas Sloup, Sterling Wilkie, Major Mendoza, Gable Davison, Iris Vance, Benson Gawanda, Styles Blazek, Case Aichele, Tripp Linden, Ezekiel Riveria, Bristyn Hancock, Eli Brownery and Aiden Tuckerne. McPherson High School and middle school programs, along with several parent volunteers, helped organize and run the event, which filled the Roundhouse to capacity and maintained its reputation as one of the state's premier youth wrestling tournaments.
