Lt. Governor Toland Visits AAR Corp. in Wellington as Company Expands Operations
WELLINGTON, Kan. — Lt. Governor David Toland visited AAR Corp.'s Wellington facility this week, a visit the Sumner County Economic Development Commission connected to the company's continued investment in the region.
AAR Corp. is investing up to $9.5 million to expand operations at its Wellington facility and is expected to add up to 100 new jobs once the project is complete.
The expansion will add 100,000 square feet to AAR's established components facility in Sumner County. The standing facility has been operating for nearly 60 years, providing maintenance, repair and operations services to military and commercial aircraft operators around the globe.
"AAR CORP. is a well-established company and a top competitor in aviation with a worldwide market," Toland said. "Their expansion not only will bring new jobs to south-central Kansas but will further strengthen our powerful aviation ecosystem, which benefits the entire state."
The Sumner County Economic Development Commission said the visit highlighted the role that strategic partnerships play in growing local economies, citing collaboration between the Kansas Department of Commerce, Sumner County Economic Development and the City of Wellington.
"Wellington is on the move — and it's partnerships like these that keep the momentum going," the commission said.
AAR General Manager of Component Services – Wellington Ben Murrell said the expansion will enhance the company's ability to serve global customers. "This growth will enhance our ability to service our global customers and meet the demand for an even larger aviation presence in Kansas," Murrell said.
AAR Corp. provides aviation services including maintenance, repair and operations; original equipment manufacturer services; and supply chain and distribution solutions to commercial and government customers worldwide.
