Lindsborg Appoints New City Administrator
LINDSBORG - The Lindsborg City Council unanimously confirmed the appointment of Tanner Faust as the new City Administrator. The mayor noted that the city received many applications and that Faust underwent a rigorous interview process, speaking with no fewer than 20 individuals across five interviews. After the council’s consent, Faust took the oath of office and expressed his excitement to begin work, highlighting his desire to build relationships with city staff and the community. “I could only dream of working for a community like this,” Faust stated, “so I just can’t wait to get started.”

City Explores Allowing Liquor at Svensk Hyllningsfest Beer Garden
LINDSBORG - The City Council discussed allowing full-bar service at this autumn’s Svensk Hyllningsfest beer garden—an expansion beyond the traditional beer-only setup. Staff explained that no new ordinance is required; a temporary liquor license held by Whiskey Wagon, a McPherson-based mobile bar caterer, would suffice. This year’s festival would serve as a one-time pilot to gauge the impact of offering mixed drinks. The venue would still require barricades, ID checks, and wristbands to identify patrons over 21. A formal application from the Hyllningsfest committee and Whiskey Wagon will come before the council for final action at a later meeting.
Lindsborg to Re-establish Presence at Kansas State Fair
LINDSBORG - After roughly two decades away, Lindsborg will again host a booth for all ten days of the Kansas State Fair. Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Holly Lofton told the council that the CVB has reserved space in an air-conditioned building and is recruiting pairs of community volunteers for each shift. Giveaways will include a grand prize of an overnight stay and breakfast vouchers from the Dröm Sött Inn, along with smaller prizes designed to draw visitors into town.
Council Approves Emergency Pool-Motor Replacement
LINDSBORG - The council approved a $5,518.10 payment to Mid-Kansas Winding of Galva for two replacement circulation motors at the city pool. Recreation Director Lauren Doak explained that when one pool motor failed, staff temporarily repurposed the slide motor to keep the pool open, leaving the slide closed for several weeks. Purchasing two motors—one for immediate installation and one as a spare—was deemed the most cost-effective way to ensure continuous operation during peak summer heat.
Annual Street Chip-Sealing Project Approved
LINDSBORG - The council awarded a $67,904.80 contract to APAC Kansas, Shears Division for this year’s chip-seal program covering 14,564 square yards of roadway, including portions of West Swensson, East Garfield, East Columbus, East Olson, and West Grant. Public Works Director Denny Walker noted that the scope was trimmed slightly to stay within budget but emphasized that chip sealing remains critical to extending pavement life.
