Lindsborg schedules citywide tree limb pickup after destructive windstorm
Crews will collect branches starting June 15 as residents recover from extreme winds
LINDSBORG, Kan. — Following a severe storm that lashed McPherson County with hurricane-force winds and caused extensive tree damage, Lindsborg city crews are clearing streets and restoring essential services before launching a community-wide limb pickup. The destructive June 8 weather event, which produced regional wind gusts up to 113 mph and temporarily knocked out power for dozens of local utility customers, prompted the city to organize a curbside collection to help residents clear their heavily damaged properties.
Residents must place branches cut into lengths of 12 feet or shorter at the curb by 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, ensuring the brush piles do not overlap or block streets and sidewalks. The cleanup will begin in the northwest quadrant of Lindsborg, using Lincoln and Main streets as dividing lines, and proceed counter-clockwise as crews make a single pass down each street. Officials said only tree limbs will be accepted — strictly excluding construction debris, leaves and bagged yard waste — and warned that the city is not responsible for lawn ruts or broken sprinkler heads caused by the heavy removal equipment.
