Mayor lauds success of biennial Hyllningsfest

LINDSBORG, Kan. – Mayor Clark Shultz opened his report at Monday's council meeting by celebrating the success of the recent Hyllningsfest. He extended heartfelt thanks to the event’s co‑chairs, Tessa Peters and Avery Dauer, as well as the festival's king and queen, Greg and Susan Lundstrom. Shultz praised the extensive work of the Hyllningsfest committee and the countless volunteers who contributed to the weekend.

LINDSBORG, Kan. – The city’s biennial Hyllningsfest attracted visitors from across the nation, with Mayor Clark Shultz noting he spoke with attendees from Washington, New York, California and Florida who traveled specifically for the event. The festival also hosted several dignitaries, including Swedish Ambassador Urban Ahlin, Bethany College President Dr. Laura Crawley, and Bruce Karstadt, former president of the American Swedish Institute.


Council approves nearly $9,000 for new firefighter gear

LINDSBORG, Kan. – The City Council on Monday unanimously approved the purchase of three new sets of firefighter bunker gear for $8,918.82. Interim Police Chief Terry Reed presented the request, stating the gear is needed for officers who also serve as firefighters. The bid was awarded to Ed M. Feld Equipment Co. (Feld Fire), which provided the lowest of three quotes. The expenditure was previously allocated in the city’s budget.


New volunteer firefighter appointed to department

LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Lindsborg Volunteer Fire Department has a new member following a unanimous council approval Monday evening. Aidan Ewing, a current Bethany College student, was appointed to the department after submitting his application. According to city staff, Ewing aspires to a career in firefighting, a profession that runs in his family. Council members welcomed Ewing and thanked him for his willingness to serve the community.


Historic Bethany Lutheran Church Receives Major Federal Grant
The 155-year-old Lindsborg congregation will use the funds for critical structural repairs.
