Council approves water and sewer rate study in split vote

LINDSBORG, Kan. - The Lindsborg City Council voted 7-1 to approve a $6,500 water and sewer rate study by Kansas Municipal Utilities, with one dissenting vote. City Administrator Tanner Faust said the study will review existing infrastructure and forecast future expenditures to ensure current reserves are healthy. Split vote approves electric rate study amid renewable energy discussion

LINDSBORG, Kan. - In a separate 7-1 vote, the Lindsborg City Council approved a $5,433 electric rate study conducted by the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency. Finance Director David Hay said the $3-per-meter study will evaluate supply, distribution and capital improvement costs to fully fund the electric utility. During the discussion, a question was raised regarding whether the city could incentivize residential solar power. Staff indicated the study will not cover individual solar incentives but said the city is exploring larger-scale renewable energy options to benefit the community as a whole.
