Lindsborg Appoints Former Lyons Official as New City Administrator

LINDSBORG, Kan. (AP) — The city of Lindsborg has selected Tanner Faust as its new city administrator, choosing him from a field of about 30 applicants, officials announced.

Faust, who currently serves as assistant city administrator in Lyons, will begin his new role July 18. He replaces Kristi Northcutt, who resigned in March to become director of the University of Kansas Public Management Center.

Mayor Clark Shultz said Faust stood out among candidates for his experience and approach to municipal government.

"We liked Tanner's energy and enthusiasm coupled with a very impressive variety of governmental experience," Shultz said. He added that Faust was the only candidate offered the position.

The selection process narrowed an initial pool of 30 applicants to eight finalists, though two candidates found other employment before the process concluded, according to city officials.

Faust joined the city of Lyons in February 2024 as community development director before being promoted to assistant city administrator. He also served as interim city administrator during a transition period between administrators Ed Truelove and Troy Houtman.

Lyons officials said they have already begun searching for Faust's replacement.
