Libraries Offer Free Online Safety Workshops for Seniors
WINFIELD — Two local libraries will host free workshops this winter to help residents protect themselves from internet scams and practice safe online habits.
The Winfield Public Library and Arkansas City Public Library are partnering to present "Staying Safe Online" workshops through AARP's Senior Planet curriculum.
The hands-on sessions will cover recognizing suspicious emails, safe browsing practices and best practices for online shopping. Participants will learn how to protect personal information while using the internet.
Winfield Public Library will host sessions on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 8. Arkansas City Public Library will offer afternoon sessions from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Dec. 3 and 10.
Registration is required, as space is limited. Those interested can call the Winfield Public Library at 620-221-4470 to reserve a spot.
Both libraries are licensed partners of Senior Planet, which provides technology education programs for older adults through AARP.
The workshops are free and open to the community.
