Legion Riders Launch 38th Annual Toys for Kids Campaign
November 29 parade and auction to benefit McPherson County children in need
The American Legion Riders are seeking auction item donations through November 28 for their 38th Annual McPherson County Toys for Kids event, culminating in a motorcycle parade and public auction on November 29. The program, which provides gifts to low-income children from birth through age 12, begins with riders gathering at the McPherson Walmart parking lot at noon for coffee and fellowship before departing at 1 p.m. for American Legion Post 24, 401 N. Main St., where a sloppy joe lunch and auction will follow. Community members interested in donating auction items can contact Tresa Rauh at (620) 419-6191.
The Toys for Kids initiative is part of the broader McPherson County Angel Tree Christmas Project, coordinated by the McPherson County Resource Council, which also includes food baskets and teen gift programs. The Legion Auxiliary will distribute collected toys December 15-20 to registered families in need. Families requiring holiday assistance must schedule appointments through the Angel Tree program at mcphersonangeltree.org. The November 29 auction is open to the public, with organizers noting that icy conditions would move the gathering directly to the Legion at 1 p.m.
