Lady Pups Return Home in Style with 50-33 Victory

McPHERSON — The wait was finally over Tuesday night as the McPherson Lady Pups christened the renovated Roundhouse floor with a convincing 50-33 victory over the Augusta Orioles in their first home game of the season.

After being forced to play all of their pre-break games on the road while flood damage was repaired at the historic gymnasium, the Lady Pups made their long-awaited return to home court a memorable one, controlling the game from start to finish.

Brooke Doile led all scorers with 17 points, while Rylie Whitfield caught fire from beyond the arc, draining four three-pointers on her way to 12 points. Maryn Sandbo added 8 points in the winning effort.

The Lady Pups' defense was suffocating throughout, holding Augusta to just 19.6% shooting from the field. McPherson completely shut out the Orioles in the second quarter, outscoring them 14-0 to take a commanding 23-8 halftime lead.

For Augusta, Chloe Wignall led the way with 12 points, while Rylee Pfeifer added 9 points. The Orioles struggled with shooting all night and were plagued by 20 turnovers.

With the victory, the Lady Pups improve to 3-5 on the season and will look to build momentum now that they're finally back on their home court.
