2. USDA Job Relocation Plan Draws Bipartisan Senate Criticism
Senators from both parties criticized a U.S. Department of Agriculture official for proposing to relocate thousands of federal jobs from Washington D.C. without congressional consultation, including expansion to Kansas City, Missouri as one of five regional hubs. The plan would cut 2,600 of 4,600 USDA jobs in the D.C. area and redistribute them to Kansas City, Raleigh, Indianapolis, Fort Collins, and Salt Lake City.

3. Cooler Temperatures Continue, Weekend Storms Expected
Kansas will enjoy continued heat relief with Friday temperatures reaching only 80 degrees - more than 10 degrees below average - before storm chances return over the weekend. Meteorologists predict storms could develop into a line across western Kansas Saturday evening, moving into central Kansas by Sunday morning, with damaging winds as the primary severe weather threat.

4. Five Teens Arrested After Newton Shooting
Five 17-year-old boys were arrested following a shooting at a Newton apartment complex that left one teen hospitalized with arm and leg wounds. Police concluded the incident was "a gun and drug trade deal gone wrong" where both groups exchanged gunfire after one side brandished a weapon.

5. Chiefs' Butker To Join Trump At White House Fitness Initiative
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker will join President Trump at a White House ceremony Thursday to announce an executive order expanding the Presidential Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, including reviving the Presidential Fitness Test in public schools. The three-time Super Bowl champion, who has made clutch kicks throughout his eight Chiefs seasons, previously met with Trump in the Oval Office earlier this year.
