Evergy is demanding $55 million in damages from BNSF Railway after the freight company allegedly failed to deliver coal from Wyoming's Powder River Basin to the utility's power plants in 2022. The utility filed its complaint with the federal Surface Transportation Board, citing undelivered coal shipments to its Lawrence Energy Center in Lawrence, Kansas, and Iatan Station near Weston, Missouri.
