Kansas Youth Range Camp Offers High Schoolers Hands-On Agriculture Experience
COWLEY COUNTY, Kan. — High school sophomores, juniors and seniors with an interest in agriculture, wildlife and the outdoors have a new opportunity this summer to gain hands-on experience in range management through the Kansas Youth Range Camp, set for June 9-12, 2026.
The camp, sponsored by the Kansas Section of the Society for Range Management, will teach participants about range plant identification, plant growth, stocking rates, livestock nutrition and rangeland wildlife management. Activities will include field trips, hands-on learning, a steak dinner, swimming, fishing and hiking.
The cost to attend is $300. The Cowley County Conservation District has two scholarships available for Cowley County youth.
"If you have an upcoming high school sophomore, junior or senior who is interested in agriculture, livestock, wildlife or the outdoors, this is for them," the Cowley County Conservation District said in announcing the camp.
