Kanopolis Drive-In Secures Funding for New 4K Projector
Theater will be Kansas' only drive-in with advanced laser projection technology.
KANOPOLIS, Kan. — The Kanopolis Drive-In has secured funding for a new 4K laser projector after its previous equipment broke in October, forcing an early end to the season. The historic theater, which first opened in 1952, will become the only drive-in in Kansas with the advanced projection technology that promises brighter images for moviegoers. Owner Jessica Eagle-Moyer, who purchased the theater with her husband Tyson in 2024, said the funding came from customers who supported the local business, though a new projector costs at least $100,000. The theater continues accepting donations through its website as the couple works to preserve the venue that has entertained families for more than seven decades.
